| Dear wine lovers and friends of Colterenzio, it is August and the vineyards are already indicating that harvest is not far away. The grapes are ripening, and the 2025 vintage is taking shape. Here at the winery, preparations are already underway, and we are looking forward to the harvest. We like to spend the last calm moments enjoying a glass of wine, preferably a glass of Schiava. This traditional variety represents our region as no other. It is a light, pleasant, and authentic red wine. It is a wine that carries the tradition of our region, and at the same time is versatile and modern. In this newsletter, we would like to share with you some interesting facts about Schiava. | Versatile Schiava – four characters to suit every tasteSchiava belongs to Alto Adige like the Dolomites. In our winery there are four different Schiava wines: Our Lago di Caldaro is the light classic and at the same time the ambassador of the region – charming, easy to drink, perfect for summer. The Schiava Rotfüssler symbolises the traditional style – an honest, linear Schiava with a fine drinking character. The Santa Maddalena comes from the hills around the picturesque village of Santa Maddalena near Bolzano – powerful, dense and with soft tannins. The Schiava Menzen, grown around our winery in Cornaiano, is particularly structured, profound and with great ageing potential.
