  • Tasting notes

    Originally from Bordeaux, Merlot has been producing impressive wines in South Tyrol for well over a century.
    Full, vivid ruby in colour, the nose shows plums, spice and forest berry fruits, while on the palate it is full-bodied and elegant, medium-rich, round, ripe with the smooth tannins typical of the Merlot grape, moving on to a long, full finish.

    Cellaring potential: 2 – 4 years.

  • Food Combination

    Steak, braised beef or lamb, rich vegetarian dishes prepared with garlic and freshly gathered herbs, and hard cheeses.

    Serve cool: 16° C.

    Soils are mainly deep, medium-heavy with a mixture of clay and sand.

  • Wine Making

    Fermentation takes place with the skins in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28-30° C, followed by malolactic fermentation and further refinement in a combination of concrete tanks and large wooden casks. After bottling the wine is set aside for bottle aging for several months before releasing.
