GRAN LAFÓA
Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc Riserva DOC 2021
- Tasting notes
The Sauvignon Gran Lafóa has a very complex bouquet of ripe fruit: apricots, gooseberries, maracuja and papaya, as well as light floral notes, intertwined with the finest roasted aromas, and notes of graphite, vanilla and flint.
On the palate, the ripe fruit strikes immediately: maracuja, gooseberry, Mirabelle plums, pineapple, mango, supported by a fresh, lively, ripe acidity. Minerality and fruit are playing a long-lasting battle. The balance is almost perfect. A great, no, a ‘Grand’ Sauvignon!Cellaring potential: 8-10 anni.
- Grape Variety Sauvignon Blanc
- Location
The grapes for the Gran Lafóa are sourced exclusively from an historic parcel of old vines, planted with Sauvignon Blanc French clones at the end of the 1980s. The vineyard is located in Cornaiano, at an altitude of around 450 metres a.s.l. It is a rather dry site, with optimal sun exposure and a sandy, gravelly morainal soil.
- Yielding 45 hl/ha
- Wine Making
The fully ripe grapes are gently pressed. The must then sediments for 4 days at 5°C. This is followed by a fermentation in barrique barrels and a maturation on the lees for 10 months. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 8 months in 600-litre wooden barrels, and rests for an additional 12 months-time in stainless steel tanks, before being bottled. It further matures in the bottle for 7 months, before it is finally released on the market, three years after the harvest.
